What homeowners ask before building an ADU
“How do people pay for it?”
Most owners keep their existing mortgage and use a HELOC or home-equity loan behind it. Some pay out of pocket. We'll connect you with our third-party lending partners if you want options.
“Do my property taxes go up on the whole house?”
No. Only the new unit is assessed, at its added value. Your home's existing assessed value stays where it is.
“Are we going to lose the whole backyard?”
Not if we can help it. State rules allow 4-foot side and rear setbacks, so the ADU usually tucks into a corner. You see the site plan, and what yard stays, before anything is signed.
“What if the city won't allow it on my lot?”
That's what the free visit is for. We check zoning, setbacks and utilities before you spend anything. If an ADU doesn't work on your lot, we tell you on the spot.
